Opportunities
Opportunities relating to the application of learning from the
training sessions will appear here. The benefits of
participating in these opportunities are expected to include:
- Verification that one "gets it" having taken training in any
particular product.
- A credential or reference for applying their knowledge of the products,
along with the participant's pre-existing experience and skills.
Employers want to know that training has a practical result for
the organization. Even when one is "between things", there
are things that can be done to bolster their credibility.
- The benefit of collaboration with others in teams. The
benefit of this collaboration is reflected in what is
accomplished for the program. Employers are often
interested in knowing that candidates are "team players".
NOTE: All such opportunities are "not for pay" and are for
those wishing to contribute their time and talent to showcase what
they can do with technology and within an organization such as this.
If you have an idea for contribution, please
email.
Opportunity Topics Under Consideration
- A comparison of event / membership management organizations
to handle the program's needs. The deliverable would be at
minimum a Word document, reporting detailed comparisons and
providing guidelines for utilization of such a service by the
program.
- Program website copywriting to more effectively communicate
aspects of the Workers in Transition Technology Program. I
admit, freely, that my writing is more for documents than for
the web. As a result, I think the current site is a bit
cumbersome. It needs work from someone skilled in editing,
probably from someone with marketing experience.
- Website graphics design, along with general branding
improvement. Any program member with an interest in
marketing, branding and a capability with graphic design could
really do some good here.
- Membership database design and deployment. While some
of this can be handled by a good event management service, it
would be desirable to have our own database of members,
classes taken, and other information relevant to the functioning
of the organization. The deliverables would be (a) a
requirements document (Word) and (b) the database itself (Access
or SQL).
- Membership expansion and Program sponsorship development
could benefit from the touch of good marketing people, as well
as others with compatible experience backgrounds. The
deliverable would be a couple of documents (Word) for program
marketing and development of sponsors.
- Integration of a "Jobs" section to the program website.
Opportunity Examples
Redesign WITTP Website V 3.0
The program website needs the experienced hands of those who can:
- Write/condense content for web pages (I'm too wordy.)
- Design branding and graphics
- Propose more complete functionality, according to design
specifications.
- Implement those specifications.
This opportunity would be good for Project Managers, Web
Designers, Copywriters, Q/A types, Marketing and Business Analysts
and others. Interested? Send an
email.
Membership Expansion
With your skills in marketing, sales, project management, etc.
help to expand word of the program to:
- networking groups
- organizations and
- individuals
Greater exposure will mean the ability to provide this service to
more workers in need of training and other program benefits.

Sponsor Development
Help to develop program sponsors who can provide the use of
facilities on a regular basis. Interested? Send an
